The first military tribute banners went up for a few weeks this fall in Veterans Memorial Park. Since then, we have received orders for over 20 more. The banners will be hung throughout the park from mid-May through Veterans Day every year. We have several of them displayed in the History Center.
Our volunteers are ready to help you to place your order. If you cannot stop by, click on “Join us in honoring our veterans”. Fill out the application and our Veterans committee will verify the information. Mail a check for $175 payable to the Miamisburg Historical Society and we will handle everything else.
To submit a photo, email a scanned .jpeg file to veterans@historicalmiamisburg.org or bring the original to the History Center and we will scan it for you. The vendor will send you a proof to approve before the order is completed so you know that everything will be correct. Thank you for supporting our local veterans.
2022 Vintage Style Show
by Judy Wuerstl
We received a call from the Sycamore Creek Apartments activities coordinator. She had heard about a vintage style show that we had staged many years ago and was interested to know if we do could one for a tea party they had planned. We set right to work. Bobbye Sweny loaned us some of her collection and we retrieved others from the archive room in the History Center. Then we had to find enough women thin enough to wear them. Success! Two resident ladies were more than happy to be asked to be part of the program. They joined three of us from the Miamisburg Historical Society. Carolyn Kilpatrick was the emcee for the program. Rounding out the show were Brenda Robinett Hill, Linda Leas, and me. The show was a great success. The women, many in decorative vintage style hats, were delighted. Our resident models were Ann, who chose a stylish two-piece outfit and a lovely gown, and Mary, who modeled a classic dress. Thank you to the Sycamore Creek activities coordinator and everyone for a wonderful time and a delightful luncheon and tea.
The Overland
has a new home!
The Miamisburg Historical Society's 1917 Willys Overland rolled into its new home at the History Center back in October. Jim Lenz donated this car back in 2014. Greg Wartinger has performed all the maintenance since the Society took possession of it.

We met at St. John’s cemetery on October 15th to learn how to clean and preserve the headstones on our ancestors’ graves. TaMara Conde, with Historic Gravestone Services (HGS) from New Salem, Massachusetts led the workshop. We will be continuing this project regularly in the coming years at all the Miamisburg area historic cemeteries.
Laurel Benner put a tremendous amount of work into this project. She contacted St. John's Church, arranged for TaMara to lead the workshop, and even ordered lunch!

For the first time in several years, we were able to schedule the Holly & Ivy annual fundraiser. A special thank you to Carolyn Kilpatrick for opening her home and hosting the event. Attendance was pretty good and our Society treasurer (Carolyn) says that we raised over $500 for the Historical Society budget.
